Yes, I looked at savage boarboyz. My problem with them is lack of control (don't know quite how much effect that would have given my plan is usually just "get 'em" anyways, but it is a risk), and less durability. and big un's is 30pts a model. Way too expensive for models with a 5+ armour save IMO.
I don't think there's much to worry about regarding the hitting power of the boarboys as they are. Butchery gives them an additional attack anyhow, and the Boss is there with his Ironback adding even more to the pile. _________________ The universe is orkdom!

Because not putting them in the open means a lot of fancy footwork to get them where they need to go, and that's just not how I do it. I like to keep things nice and simple.
The fact is that in order for them to work the way I intend to use them, the boarboyz need to be durable more than they need hitting power. The basic ones have both, and the savage ones will simply be too expensive when I equip them according to my desires, and for only one additional attack. All those points and all I'm getting is one attack plus the loss of absolute control of the unit? I don't like my boyz going wherever they please. If they don't want to listen to the boss, they're out- and probably dead. _________________ The universe is orkdom!

Also, you tend to be in the open for at least 1 round. 1 round of shooting will rip those boarboys apart. 1 good magic missle, some ranged fire or some warmachines would do the trick nicely. This isn't counting the damage that a flank shot from a cannon or boltthrower would do...
Multiple small Units can work, but more for Wood elves than Orcs. _________________ Kerwin

Total Roster Cost: 2997
The list includes 4 units of boyz, each joined by a character. The one larger unit is joined by themounted BSB for a 5x6 unit setup (5 rank bonus) which gives +5 dispel dice using the MST. Every other unit is 25 strong with heroes.
Took out the arrer boyz since I can't actually shoot them before my artillery (literally the only reason I took them) and sneakily premeasure. On that note I've also heavily reduced the artillery presence, keeping mostly just spear chukkaz and a doom diver for a little added punch. Should be enough to fit onto a single hill so I'm not devoting all my terrain choices there, though I might do that anyway.
I also added gobbo shamans in replacement of orc shamans, because they're a little cheaper so I can put that much into more important things, like an orc chariot (the points I save with gobbos is 10 per shaman= 30 +35 for 1 lvl reduction +25 for one dropped scroll= 90, and a boar chariot is 85). They'll still provide occasional support, but really the 5 scrolls plus 11 dispel dice (2 floating, 4 for azhag and shamans, 5 for MST) should do a lot to keep enemy magic under wraps! Looking over the little waaagh spells I think while a lot of the better hitting spells are in Big waaagh, there's some much better support spells with the gobbos and that's really where they'll be useful as occasional surprises. This is definitely as far as I go with goblins though, and I may convert them so an accompanying orc is dragging them by a chain.
I'm messing around with the idea of either a regular black orc lord on wyvern or Azhag himself, and for now I'll try Azhag as he can enhance my magic phase and has the ability to make units re-roll 1's on the animosity table, which is always nice. Gotta keep that under wraps however possible.
Also, here's some stuff I've been reading/listening to to try and figure out how to build a list with these gits.
