|
|
Hello,
As some of you may have heard, Jeff will be moving down the street during the month of August. As such, next week is the last week for playing at POTA. I was wondering if anyone wanted to meet at POTA to play some BB or 40k. I'm working on developing my team for Bloodbowl and have high hopes that I might actually make it back to 100 in the next couple games.
As the 2nd is the goblin cup at CMU, I was wondering if anyone wanted to try and head up to Legions on the 9th. Transportation will obviously be more of an issue, but you only have to climb 2 hills from the nearest buss stop. The bus you want to take is the 12A. I looked on thier website, and it looks like they are having some sort of megabattle on the 9th of august.
I also noticed that they seem to have regular 40k play on friday nights. during the week, there ARE busses that run by thier store. of course the last one leaves at 9PM. Looks like I'd have time for 1 game on friday nights...maybe more if I could catch a ride back into town(not that I'll count on that). The weekday bus schedule you would be interested in is the 11C.
If I don't see you guys before, see you at CMU on the 2nd for the Goblin Cup! _________________ Kerwin

Ok just to get this straight... now will PotA not host 40K after this week period or just for the month of August (as they are moving then)?
Just have to know so I can start planning for a major project in august myself. _________________ Dueling Dice - Gaming Blog

They will be tearing down everything the current store and moving down the street to the new location.
It is still TBD as to whether there will be space for a table or two at the new location.
When I spoke with Jeff yesterday, he said he would keep everyone in the loop via the weekly PotAlert mailing.
Hopefully, he will work something out so there will be space to play as I can only assume that a good bit of sales come as impulse purchases when people are standing there all day surrounded by shiny new models. |

It seems that there is a distinct possibility that POTA will not have the space for gaming tables at the new store. They also will be moving during August and we have been advised that we may not have use of the tables then. Only time will tell if the new POTA will have gaming tables, but I'm not too hopeful. Legions appears to be the only short term option. Time will tell if it is the only long term option. _________________ Kerwin

Well since it's unknown I might as well start then, I've been looking for an excuse to convert my basement into a gaming room and this might just be the one I need (I have a 4x4 and I plan on buliding a 6x4 for the new edition and crack out my Imperial sector kit I got last christmas). _________________ Dueling Dice - Gaming Blog

so I was checking out the new white dwarf and pittsburgh has a new gamimg store called the Geekadrome its located on 534 brookline blvd and the number is 412-344-2494.
So I map quested it from my apt which is down the street from ptoa and it would take me 13 min to get there, so I am currently looking for a way to get there by buss but the port authority website sucks so im not having very much luck.
Im going to call them tomorrow and let you know. |

I checked it out.
It's through the Liberty tunnel and down a ways.
I'm sure there's a bus (or two) that would get you there but I'm not sure how long it would take.
Edit: I checked the public transit map on google and apparently to get there you take the 500 downtown and then catch the subway out to dormont then walk for about half a dozen blocks. |

Hmm, it looks like the 41D would be your best bet. It runs on the weekdays and weekends and should drop you off right in front.
It also looks like the bus ride would be a bit shorter than the one to Legions. This one is 15 minutes from downtown where Legions is closer to a 45 minute ride + 1/2 mile walk(the walk applies on weekends, weekdays you can be dropped off right on the corner next to the store).
Of course it depends on if this place has gaming room. If not, then there is little point in doing more than checking it out. I've found what may be their website: http://geekadrome.livejournal.com/ it doesn't mention anything about warhammer, but there is a picture of what looks like a GW paint rack in the back of the picture about halfway down the page. I don't know when I'll have time to get down in check this place out. If not before, I may try to get down that way next Sunday. _________________ Kerwin

Pay me gas and coordinate and I can take us there and drop you back off somewhere reasonable
Fyi legions IS moving also.. Their new store will host approx 22 gaming tables |

Any word as to where Legions is moving to, exactly?
EDIT:
I Google mapped it and it looks like they either have a now-defunct American Legion (post 450 to be exact) hall as their base of operations, if their statement of "Right next to the CVS" is to be believed. It is a fairly large building, 2 floors, each very big. I can maybe check it out later this week because I'll be driving my ass around, so we'll see. _________________ My stompa w.i.p.:

while Dom has offered a generous offer. being dumped off in the middle of the northside at nite lugging ones own wieght in models just doesnt sound pleasing.
since I still done drive it looks like unless something happens in my favour you all will only see me at cmu for Blood Bowl. unless I still have your Forgeworld stuff...then I gotta find ya to give it to ya. _________________
