I'd be up for a game.

I think I may finally have a grasp on what I do and don't have out of the demon book, so I could likely through something together. IT ain't all pretty yet, but it's there.

I'd be happy to play a game or two with you stewart. About All I can think of, is that we want to avoid scheduling Fantasy at the same time as one of the bigger Apoc Games. I know I'll have the 30th off from work. If we don't get a game in before then, we can get in a couple that day.

Hmm, probably...after all, I know at least a couple of our regulars were at Games Day. We will play things by ear, if we aren't playing an apoc game this Saturday, I can easily bring 1-2k of dwarves.

You should have plenty of warning on the Apoc games.

As the last attempt proved, leaving things to the last minute chews up way too much time. We spent an hour and a half getting set up and got two and a half full game turns before people started to scatter.

This is a good time to bring up a point, if you sign on to play a big game, plan on playing a big game from beginning until bitter end. It really messes things up to spend the time to set everything up and then have people leave after like one or two turns.

An hour and a half setting up??? Wow. To think as an ork player I've never taken more than 20 minutes or so....and that was 8000 points all my own! You lot need a lesson on Apok-runnin' at pota, seems.

I might be up for some fantasy, but I'm kind of on a 40k buzz right now, looking out for fifth and all. :/

Well, to be fair, it was haggling over game size, who was playing, who would be paired up with who, then we broke out to build armies, then set them up, then deploy, etc., etc..

I can fully understand you riding the 5th ed buzz. From what I have read (not finished going through it yet) it looks like christmas in July for Orks.

Well I'm certainly very happy with most of the fifth edition rules in my experiences thus far! My only gripe is the lack of victory points in 2/3's scenerios, which leads to a lot of stupid ties once troops are all gone (which will happen). That seems the true failure of the book, IMO.

Here's how I see solving the problems you mentioned about apok games:

(in this order, sorta)
+Random teammates (roll d6, high's with highs and lows with lows, or the well tested picking from a hat method). Don't waste time arguing with the dice or hat when it's done, your egos are not welcome here! Also, naturally, in the case of uneven teams the one with less players gets an extra asset.

+Pick points limit (helpful if everyone is nice and amicable and doesn't care too much. I know I'm a bit of a fringe guy in terms of what I can deploy, but I usually just say "sure" to whatever points limit is suggested. Razz ). Probably a good idea to figure out what the limit of each team is and go from there.

+Don't use random deployment zones. That's silliness and can lead to not having enough space to deploy your whole force! Just keep things even along the middle.

And other stuff. Really just gotta not argue. Obviously.

Hmm, since we are doing an apoc game this weekend, I won't be bringing 40k. We can try the weekend after.

I'd say that fantasy got pushed back a week.
